The Triangulum Galaxy, so-named because of its location in the small constellation of Triangulum the triangle, is a spiral galaxy and the third largest member of the Local Group behind the Great Nebula in Andromeda and and our own Milky Way galaxy. Other mebers of the Local Group are Caldwell 17 (NGC 147) and Caldwell 18 (NGC 185). Areas in the spiral arms with a slight reddish tinge are active star-forming regions.
